A Day in the Life: The “3-Day” Cancer-Fighting Meal Plan

PART 5: THREE DAYS OF CANCER FIGHTING FOODS

I know many of you have heard of the “3-Day Walk for Breast Cancer” also known simply as “The 3-Day.” Well, this is my own “3-Day”: The 3 Day ‘Eat’ for the Cure!” When I was fighting my cancer I tried excessively hard to eat ONLY foods that had cancer fighting abilities. It became obvious to me that the foods that DO fight cancer are the ones we don’t eat much of.

Eating to BEAT cancer was a huge wake up call. I had to tune in to foods that I had never eaten before or had eaten and decided didn’t taste so great, for EVERY MEAL OF THE DAY. There were days that I would stare into the open fridge and shut it several times before finally deciding on something to chew on. This experience inspired today’s post, designed for anyone who is eating a raw-vegan diet along with other alternative therapies to beat their cancer.

For those of you using alternative protocols to fight your cancer, look very few other places for meal ideas. I’ve been there, done that, and this will be really helpful for you. When I started my cancer protocol, I didn’t even know what most of the food I was supposed to eat even looked like!

So, enjoy this meal rotation. Don’t expect it to taste good, but DO expect and believe it will help beat your cancer. I did and still do.

Beating cancer holistically is about more than eating a cancer fighting diet. Go back and read my past 4 posts from this series to get the big picture:

  1. THANK YOU SO MUCH! I pray God give me the discipline and heal me. I have not been diagnosed but having things going on that I am really concerned about. My husband died due to liposarcoma in 2012.
God bless you for caring enough to share with others.

  2. Hi, my brother diagnosed Hodgkin lymphoma 3 years back. He had ABVD chemo regimes 8 cycles. Not much differences.
And, took ICE chemo with stem cell transplant. Almost most of his cancer cells were gone with mild lesions on his lungs. So, went for radiation.
After that, the cancer spreads very fast to his lungs and doctors have said nothing can be done as his cancer cells progress so fast and aggressive.
Then, they recommended brentuximab medicine as this is the best and most expensive cancer medication.
We tried first 1/2 dose as his liver was not good and he was responding
And second full dosage were given and first week was OK but the 2nd week , he had acute pancreatitis and lost of pain.
CT scan shows that his pancrease has swollen and has growth as well. They have insert “stand” to his common bile duct as there were CBD strictures. Also, liver and kidneys were with lesions as well.
Doctors advised that , the lymphoma has progressed to his liver , kidney as well.
And that’s it. Can’t do much and asked us to take him back home.

Is there anything we can do ?? Can we follow the diet above ??
    Looking forward eagerly. PLEASE HELP.

    • Hi there, yes you can absolutely follow this diet at home, but a holistic doctor would be a great addition to his team to monitor him and answer any questions you may have. He has to WANT to get better and do what needs to be done to make that happen- detox, the very strict diet, emotional healing. The Budwig Diet in particular has had great success with metastatic, terminal cases in a short period of time. You may want to further research that as well.

  3. I have one big problem with the raw diet…I can not eat raw…it will send me into cramps and diarrhea something fierce…I can steam and fry in a little olive or grapeseed oil but very little raw is tolerated…. so what do you think???? surly steamed or cooked it better than not at all right?

  4. Hi Cortney,
I’m still recovering from the CT scan, so it’s good to know I have another option. Long story short, I was diagnosed with stage lV Lung cancer last Nov. I had it in my lungs, brain, spine and right hip bones. My husband I went to Oasis of Hope in Mexico for 3 weeks. I am on many supplements and a strict diet. In April, I was almost clear except for main lesion on my lung and it was 65% gone. My Dr., here in the states, thinks it was the Tarceva and now it’s not working. My last scan showed I now have 3 small lesions in both my lung and liver. I am juicing, eating only organic, plant based, infrared sauna, organic coffee enemas etc . Do you have any other suggestions or a Dr. that you think is really good? I was all organic before I got this. I’m very active with golf and tennis.

  6. Did the Ezekiel bread you ate during your cancer treatment have gluten such as Ezekiel 4:9? Also the Ezekiel cereals that I see are sprouted grains. Are both of these ok because they are easy to digest?

  7. did you ever eat apricot seeds? cottage cheese is dairy is it not? I have a brain tumor. not much info on these as far as diet ect. just no sugar no meat no carbs. does not leave room to eat anything else except raw foods which is getting old very very fast. on chemo pills and radiation treatments now for agliolastoma stage 4. doing chia seeds flax seeds hemp shakes everyday as well for energy.

    • Hi Tom- no I didn’t eat apricot seeds as part of my treatment plan but I have had them since then. Yes- cottage cheese is dairy but when mixed with the flax and blended with a high speed immersion blender, it loses much of its dairy properties. Try spicing your salads up with more fruit or nuts, etc. If on chemo, you are going to probably have different dietary issues. Maybe cooking some of your food could help?

    • I have one big problem with the raw diet…I can not eat raw…it will send me into cramps and diarrhea something fierce…I can steam and fry in a little olive or grape seed oil but very little raw is tolerated…. so what do you think???? surly steamed or cooked it better than not at all right?

      • I say absolutely cook it. You definitely have to pay attention to the signals your body is sending you. Another option is a digestive enzyme such as Digest Gold or one with Betaine in it. Start with 1 capsule and work your way up to see if it helps with the raw aspect. What about raw apples, bananas, etc?

  8. Hi Cortney thank you for his amazing blog.
How long did I took to be cancer free?
How it is you diet afterwards? Do you still take supplements?
    Do you eat meat?
    thanks

  9. Indeed when the student is ready, the teacher will appear. I discovered the Green Drink Diaries via Chris Wark’s website. Thank God for you both! From what I gather you are in the Atlanta area, and so am I. I read with interest your 3 Day Eat for the Cure, that really helps with breaking the monotony of daily eating.
Thank you for your blog! Best wishes to you and your family.

  10. Was your cancer ER+? Mine is. I had intended to use Essiac tea, but I became afraid of the estrogens in it? Otherwise, my diet is similar to yours. I just got back from the oncologist. No evidence of recurrence. I opted for no chemo, no radiation, and no hormone blocking pills. My doctors were not happy with me.

  11. I love the post. Cortney, you are doing such a great service to everyone, regardless of if they are fighting cancer, any other disease or condition, or just trying to stay healthy. The only suggestion that I might make is to avoid telling people that they should not expect the foods on a healthy or cancer-fighting diet to taste good. Our society has gotten so used to adding sugar, salt and fat to our foods to make them taste good that we think that is how good foods should taste. I believe that given some time of eating healthy foods, people can learn to enjoy the actual taste of the vegetables, smoothies, etc. that are actually good for their bodies. Keep up the good work. Pam

  12. Hi,

Did you use only the turmeric root ? Not the dried powdered spice ?
There are so many places selling essiac tea on the internet, and not all of them are potent.
Which brand of essiac tea did you use ? Where do you recommend buying it ?

I haven’t heard of Pau D’Arco tea. Where do you recommend buying it ?

  13. I’m doing the Gerson therapy, which is very similar to your diet – vegan, mostly raw, all organic, very low protein, salt free. My “treat” is a piece of salt free rye bread rubbed with garlic, with sliced tomato. Not quite the treat I’m used to!

It’s really challenging to resist the temptation to eat food that isn’t cancer fighting, but, like you did, I’m using food as medicine.
