It can’t hurt to add more garlic and onions into your recipe rotation. Garlic has been known for its healing properties for thousands of years. It has antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, and anti-inflammatory properties. Onions are loaded with the bioflavonoid, quercetin, (remember this induces cancer cell suicide and prevents healthy cells from mutating into cancer cells.) Both should have a more prominent role in our cancer fighting cuisine!
This post also contains a DELICIOUS guacamole recipe, a CHALLENGING cancer fighting drink, and an AMAZING oil/garlic salve that can improve many ailments!
A total of at least 20 compounds found in garlic have been studied for their anti-cancer activity. Garlic has been shown to prevent cancer by protecting cells when exposed to carcinogenic substances, such a nitrites, a type of food additive found in cured meats and pickled foods. Diallyl sulfide (DAS) and diallyl disulfide (DADS) are compounds found in garlic and onions (although more so in garlic) that have been found to even neutralize early cancerous growth caused by nitrites and nitrosamines.
These cancer fighting compounds found in garlic may outright reverse cancer through apoptosis. When exposed to the garlic compound DAS under a lab setting, cancer cells from leukemia, colon, breast, lung, and prostate cancer patients all showed changes in their growth and entered into the process that leads to their death (apoptosis.)
Summary:
Eat lots of garlic and add onions liberally to your meals! Eating freshly crushed, uncooked garlic is the best way to maximize cancer-fighting benefits but there are many other compounds in garlic that are beneficial to your health.
Recipes:
Guacamole Solo (guacamole for 1, maybe 2 people)
1 avocado
2 garlic cloves
¼ red onion
½ tomato
¼ tsp garlic salt or sea salt
Directions: Chop onion and garlic in chopper or by knife. Chop tomato. Add to bowl, split avocado in half, guiding knife around the pit.. Remove pit and scoop out avocado “meat.” (Scrape the insides of the avocado for the most anticancer nutrients.) Stir until blended. Serve with carrot chips for a snack or with rice and beans. 🙂
Garlic Drink (For those hard core about health!)
Chop 4-6 cloves garlic
Add 2 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
¼ c water
Once all ingredients are mixed, chug this drink. It is not meant for enjoyment. 😉 May need to take after eating as it can upset a sensitive stomach.
“GOOT” Recipe for AWESOME Anti-bacterial/Anti-fungal/ Anti-viral Salve
I came across this recipe when my daughter was 10 months old. She was feverish and congested and I needed a solution. We have managed to avoid having to give her any prescription or over-the-counter medicines since she was born thanks to this mixture and other natural home remedies and homeopathics. Read the directions carefully.
“GOOT” stands for “Garlic, Olive Oil Treatment”
3 Tbsp Coconut Oil
3 Tbsp Olive Oil
6 cloves garlic
Directions: Pulverize garlic in Vitamix or food processor or as small as you can by hand. Add Coconut Oil and Olive Oil and blend WELL. Once finished blending, mixture should look like a cream and smells yummy. Empty mixture into Tupperware or glass jar. Put in fridge for about 30 minutes. Then, apply layer to feet (a pathway to your bloodstream) and place two pairs of socks on. Sleep with socks on and wash feet in the morning. You can also reapply and wear socks throughout the day. You can also rub it behind ears for ear infections, or under nose and on the chest for congestion. Throw away 10-14 days after mixing.
We noticed a significant improvement the next day on several different occasions we’ve used it for our daughter and for ourselves! Enjoy!
Mmmm, that’s the same Guac recipe that I use, except I add the juice of 1 lime and about 2-3 Tablespoons of fresh cilantro!
I actually tried the GOOT last night as I have been battling spring allergies and had some chest congestion. Woke up this morning and the congestion had broken up, and I put the Allegra away. I still have a little congestion, so I am gonna try it again tonight!
I LOVE the GOOT. It seriously works just as well as an over-the-counter medicine and it’s good for you. Slather it on. 🙂 I put fresh cilantro in my smoothies, but my husband hates it. He has gotten better (and even stopped asking for the “un-cilantroed” rice at Chipotle,) but I still couldn’t get it past him in guacamole. I’ll have to try the lime in it. That sounds perfect!
Cortney, how often do you drink the “Garlic Drink”? Was that part of your protocol for getting rid of the cancer? Thanks! Pam
Pam I found the idea for the garlic drink concept online- I can’t remember where- but I took the concept of fresh garlic, knew the need to activate the allicin in it and consume it immediately. So, I came up with the garlic drink idea. Crush it, combine it with apple cider vinegar and drink up!
Yay! One more reason to love garlic!! 😀
