If you read my last post you can see the evolution of my green drink consumption. It was definitely not a love affair from the beginning, but more so a relationship of necessity. It is still not delicious and at the start was just slightly better than eating a gallon-size salad for 2 hours. Growing up I NEVER ate salad or any raw vegetables unless it came smothered in dressing and came free with a meal. But then came cancer. Since my husband and I decided to forgo chemotherapy and radiation for holistic treatment but I hated eating vegetables, “Green Drink” was one of my answers.
It’s easy to start drinking a green smoothie everyday. If you have a serious illness, I would go ALL OUT: 100% vegetables from the start. You can find two great recipes in my last post for REALLY green smoothies. If you just want to improve your overall health, start with your favorite fruit and gradually replace fruit with vegetables as it is palatable to you. My husband, Kevin created an amazing recipe below.
Green Drink is just the beginning. It is not designed to TREAT cancer on its own. Later posts will be about other protocols I used when treating my cancer.
Fruity Green Smoothie
1 cup organic unsweetened almond or rice milk
2 bananas
½ cup pineapple
2 Tbsp shredded coconut
1 tbsp almond or peanut butter
1 cup kale or spinach
(He also puts 2 raw free range eggs but that’s up to you!)
Blend until smooth
That’s more my style. =-) Chard is easier for me to enjoy than kale. You’re brave!
