Sounds delicious, huh!? Other names this one could be called:
The “Acquired Taste Smoothie”
The “About to Go Bad in My Fridge Smoothie”
Any others??
Alright, the point of this is that you can really put anything in a Vitamix and drink it for its nutrients. The focus is on NUTRITION, not on taste. So get your pinchers out and prepare to chug, because OUR HEALTH is worth it! Oh, and who likes to waste produce anyways? Especially when your organic food costs half your paycheck.
If you haven’t read up on the psychology of drinking a REALLY green veggie smoothie, read one of my first posts I wrote: GREEN DRINK PSYCHOLOGY.
You can find cancer fighting smoothies HERE.
You can find all of my other (and tastier) smoothie recipes HERE.
The Compost Pile Smoothie:
Any quality ingredients in your fridge (no rotting produce please!)
I used:
pea sprouts
tomatoes
baby lettuce
1 very ripe pear
1 green apple
3 stalks celery
1 small green pepper (last one from my garden)
2 cups (approx.) of filtered water
(I added some vegan protein powder since I’ll be drinking this as a meal replacement at lunch time.)
Directions: Add all ingredients and water to preferred consistency and BLEND. I like to put in two 32 oz mason jars when I’m finished and chill in the fridge until the froth has settled down and the temperature is cool but not cold. Pinch nose if needed. (:
What are your thoughts on free glutamate in protein powders? My other go to inspiring blog is lymphomasurvival.com and they warn against unbound glutamate. They think it’s as bad as sugar in the cancer feeding frenzy.
Oh geez, I’m not sure. I never paid much attention to that…and while I was treating my cancer I didn’t use ANY protein powder. All of my protein came from sprouted legumes and the Budwig mixture.
Hi there! What are your thoughts on castor oil packs?
awesome! gotta love Vitamix…your “compost” idea is great for soup too…..just throw it all in and turn on the machine….add some peppers/cayenne/garlic etc…mmmmmm
Your website is truly an inspiration to me. When doctors still could’t figure out what I had I was led to your website over and over again by what i know was God directing me. Your “green drinks” (your protocol simplified everything for me) and Bill Henderson’s book have truly given me hope. Thank You so much!!
Dulce, that means so much to read your comment. I am so glad for you! (:
Good to see I’m not the only one who does this with my produce. Although, usually, mine have more fruit than veggies sadly. Makes the compost smoothie taste better, that’s for sure 😉 But it’s a great way to use up my spinach that’s starting to get slimy!!
Erin- do what you need to do to make it tasty! Fruit isn’t bad, especially if you don’t have cancer. You’re probably still eating better than 97% of the population. (:
This is so funny, I make my smoothies based on the leftovers a lot as well!
